How to Lock a folder without a Software ?

Hey guys , I am back with a new trick . Do you want to lock a folder so as to prevent others using your computer from viewing its contents ? As we use third party software to do this . I found a good way to lock a folder in Windows XP without using any third party software .

Open Notepad on your PC .

Copy the following Code and paste it in notepad.

Save the notepad and change the extension of the file from ".txt" to ".bat" .

Now you have created a batch file . You can even customise the batch file by following the below two points.

Replace TricksGeek which is in bold letter with the name of the locked folder you want to create ( Optional ) .

You can change the password also by replacing " tricksgeek " in the above code with your new password ( Optional ).

Now place the batch file in the location where you want to create your password protected folder .

Run the batch file by double clicking on it. This will create a folder named "TricksGeek" in the same location as the batch file.

You can now open the folder and place the files inside .

After placing the files , run the batch file again . It will ask you whether you want to lock the folder . Press' y' and hit enter .

The folder will become invisible . To reopen the folder , run the batch file again . You will be asked for a password .

Enter the password and hit Enter . You can view the contents of your locked folder .

Keep in Mind ,  After locking the folder , don't keep it in the same location as anyone can open the batch file and see your password . Keep it in some other location , and whenever you want to open it , Place it back in the location of locked password and run it .

How to edit Windows 7 hosts file ?

NOTE:- This tutorial uses the file “hosts” as an example but other files can also be modified using this method .

I will give you two methods for this  -

First Method :-

If at some point you need to modify your "hosts" file in Windows 7, you’ll most likely have to change your access rights to that specific file.
Please note that you have to have administrator privileges to make the following changes.
In Windows Explorer, go to the file you wish to Edit. In this case we will be using “c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts”
Right-click on that file and select “Properties”
Select the “Security” tab
Select your Users.
Click on “Edit”

Click on your username again and modify the permissions as you wish. In most cases, you can give yourself “Full Control” .

Second Method :-

If you are using Windows 7 Operating System, then editing/modifying/saving Windows "hosts" File is not possible in most of the cases . In this post I will show you how we can easily edit/modify/save "hosts" File in Windows 7 Operating System?

Follow these simple steps for editing/modifying/saving "hosts" File in Windows 7 Operating System?

Windows 7 Hosts File is located in: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc (Assuming C Drive is your Operating System Drive). Copy this location :-

Click on Start Button > All Programs > Accessories then Right Click on Notepad and Select Run as Administrator .

Click Open i.e. (CTRL + O) in Notepad and Paste the Hosts File Address in it > Press Enter and Select All Files from the Drop Down Menu .

Or Simply Click on Start>My Computer>Local Disk C>Windows>System 32>drivers>etc , there you can see the "hosts" file .

Now Open the "hosts" File and Edit it as per your Requirement. Save it and it’s all done .

Note :-
Notepad in Administrator Mode can Save the changes you made in Windows Hosts File. You may not be able to Save Windows Hosts File, if you run Notepad in default mode.

How to Use USB Pen drive as RAM of Computer .

Hello guys , here I am sharing you a trick to increase your RAM without any extra investment. This trick will surely improve the performance of your computer and increase operational speed. Here you have to use a USB pen drive or flashdrive, which can be used as RAM of your computer. Before trying this trick, make sure this can damage pen drive so be careful. To make it true we have to make some modifications. Just follow given steps carefully - 

How to use USB pen drive as RAM in Windows XP -:

1. First connect your pen drive to computer. Note that pen drive should be at least of 1GB.

2. Now right click on the my computer and then click properties.

3. Click on Advanced Tab and then Performance.

4. Now click on Advanced and then click on Virtual Memory. 

5. Select your pen drive icon and click Custom size.

6. Now view the memory available in your pen drive and note it down then click on OK.

7. Restart your computer and enjoy your fast system.

How to use USB pen drive as RAM in Windows Vista and Windows 7 -:

1. Insert your pen drive and format it. 

2. Right click on your pen drive and click on properties.

3. Now click on Ready boost tab and then Use this device.

4. Choose maximum space to reserve system speed then click on OK and Apply.

You've done! use your pen drive as RAM.

Make Windows 7 Genuine Using Command Prompt .

First of all You need to Open Command Prompt  as an Administrator.To Open it as an Administrator Type cmd in Start-menu and then Right Click on the Cmd and Select Run as Administrator .

Now Type the Command SLMGR -REARM in cmd .

Press Enter and Wait For Few Seconds .

Next a Message Dialog Box Will open Specifying Command ‘ Completed Successfully . Please Restart the system for the Changes to Take effect .

Restart Your Computer and You are all done.Now You are Free of the Error "Windows 7 is Not Genuine" .

Note - You Must Run Command Prompt as an Administrator Else this method will not work .

Windows 7 Genuine with (WAT Removal Tool) – Removing Windows 7 Activation Timer to Use it as Genuine .

It is the easiest way to crack the windows and use it as genuine .

WAT removal tool is an application to remove the Windows 7 activation countdown timer thus making the trial version genuine forever. It is the easiest way to hack Windows 7 and especially useful for PCs/Laptops in which windows 7 cannot be activated by any other available method (Loader, vldr, PARADOX, StopTimer crack etc). This is the case with laptops and PCs with some specific newer BIOSes (for example my Dell laptop which has Insyde H2O BIOS). Hell! I tried every possible method to get Windows 7 Ultimate activated on it but failed. Interestingly every method run fine and displays message of “Operation Successful, Restart System”. But after restart Windows Activation Status still shows “xx days left to activate”. However this application “WAT remover” solved this problem completely. Simply speaking it removes the “Windows activation time” from PC and thus your Windows 7 installation remain genuine forever. No activation countdowns, no “This copy of Windows is not genuine” watermark and no irritating “Activate Windows now” balloon notifications.

So to get freedom from activation, download here (zip) and extract the WAT Remover app

Run the app as Administrator (right click on it and select “Run as administrator”)

Click “Remove WAT”

Confirm when asked

Wait for the process and confirm restart
And done, simple!!

To confirm that “WAT” is removed, right click on “My Computer” and select “Properties”. If the process was successful there will not be any “Windows Activation Status” column as earlier. This method works for all Windows 7 versions (Basic, Premium, Ultimate). I am not sure whether it will work for Windows Vista too. Interestingly this app can also restore the removed “Windows Activation Time” later on if required.

NOTE:- 

DO NOT update Windows after WAT removal (by default Windows update is set as “Automatic”, change this option to “Never”), as it may reverse the process. Also if Windows somehow again starts to show as non-genuine and prompt for registration at start up, then run the above tool again and restore WAT – restart computer – run WAT removal tool one more time and again remove WAT and bingo! Windows is genuine again. You may repeat the process as many times as required in the future.

How to protect your pendrive with password ?

We all know the importance of USB stick. It is the one of the easiest way to share or transfer your files, data between computers. But what if your pen-drive having some secret data or having files which you don't  want to get checked by any other person. 

For these types of situations you need to lock your pen-drive with password. On internet lots of paid as well as free software available to secure your pen-drive. But today I'm going to explain you that how you can password protect your pen-drive without any software.

Procedure To Password Protect (Only for Windows 7 & Windows 8)

1) Insert your USB drive to computer .
2) Click on Start .
3) In Search programs and files box, type Bitlocker Drive Encryption .
4) Now click it to open. You will find your pen-drive in last and click on Turn on Bitlocker.

5) Select password  to unlock your usb/pendrive .
6) Type your desired password .

7) Click Next .
8) Choose save the recovery key to a file .
9) You can also print recovery key .

10) Choose the safe destination for recovery key because in case you forgot your password it will help you to unlock your USB .
11) And then tap Next .
12) Then click on Start Encrypting .

It may take a few minutes in Encrypting depending upon size of pen-drive.

You can check it by removing and again re-inserting the pen drive.The System will ask you to enter the password to access the data. 

Now your all data remains safe. Also in case your pen drive is lost or gets stolen then also no one can use it without password.
